The Baby Guinness Shot is a creamy, sweet liqueur shot recipe. Looks exactly like a tiny pint of stout — coffee liqueur for the body, Irish cream floated for the head. No Guinness in sight. For more like it, browse our Liqueur shots, and always drink responsibly — Shot Chef is for adults 21+.
Baby Guinness Shot

About the Baby Guinness Shot
It looks exactly like a tiny pint of Guinness, and that is the whole joke. Dark coffee liqueur fills three-quarters of the glass for the stout, and a careful float of Irish cream sits on top as the creamy head. There is no Guinness in it at all, just Kahlua and Baileys pretending convincingly.
How to get the head
The Irish cream floats because it is lighter than the sugar-heavy coffee liqueur. Fill the glass with coffee liqueur first, then pour the Irish cream slowly over the back of a bar spoon so it settles into a clean pale cap. Pour too fast and it sinks and muddies. Full technique in our layering guide.
Tips
- This is the best layered shot to learn on: two ingredients and very forgiving.
- Chill both bottles for a crisper line between layers.

Substitutions
- Any coffee liqueur works for the base.
- Non-dairy Irish cream floats just as cleanly.
Batch version
Layered shots are built one at a time — set up a coffee-liqueur pour station and float to order.
