About the Zombie Brain Shot

Halloween’s grossest party piece, and it is supposed to look that way. Peach schnapps fills the glass, then Irish cream is dripped in so it curdles into pale, brain-like clumps, and a few drops of grenadine bleed down through it. It is a curiosity as much as a drink: sweet and peachy, with a novelty factor that does all the talking.

How the effect works

The brains are real curdling. Acidity in the peach schnapps reacts with the cream and seizes it into stringy clumps. Drop the Irish cream in slowly with a spoon and it forms tendrils rather than a blob; the grenadine, heavier than both, sinks and streaks like blood.

Tips

  • Serve it right after building, before the curdle fully settles.
  • It is a looks-first shot; keep the pour small and let guests marvel before they drink.

A centerpiece for any Halloween table. See more novelty builds among our layered shots.

Substitutions

  • Non-dairy Irish cream still curdles for the effect.
  • Blue curaçao base for a ghoulish color.

Batch version

Built to order — the curdle effect happens per glass.

FAQ

Why does the cream curdle?

The acidic schnapps curdles the cream on contact — that's the intended gory look.
